This course presents an overview of early childhood education with an emphasis given to the historical roots and development of early childhood education, contribution of leaders and theorist in the field, and description of programs that meet the needs of young children. The development of a philosophy understanding of ECE and the understanding of child advocacy and professional ethics is an important part of this course. One field trip will be included in this course.
